The poetry club had its first bake sale, and they made $79.35. The club members are planning to have 4 more bake sales.

Leslie said, "If we make the same amount at each bake sale, we'll earn $3,967.50."

Peggy said, "No way, we'll earn $396.75."

Who is right and why? Use estimation to solve.

If you multiply 79.35 by 5 you'll get 396.75
So Peggy is correct they'll only make $396.75!

Peggy is correct; if the poetry club makes the same amount in each bake sale, they will earn $396.75 from five bake sales, not $3,967.50 as Leslie suggested. The total from the first bake sale, multiplied by 5, gives us $396.75. This is confirmed by estimation as well.
