In a concert, there were 200 participants. There were 4 times as many girls as boys.

How many girls were there? How many more girls than boys were there?

Answer (2)

200= 4b(4 times the amount of boys) +b(the amount of boys)
200= 5b divide both sides by 5
40 = b
So we have worked out that there is 40 boys so in order to get the number of girls we need to multiply it by 4 which equals 160.
Boys = 40 Girls = 160
120 more girls than boys

At the concert, there were 160 girls and 40 boys, making a total of 200 participants. There are 120 more girls than boys. This is calculated by defining the number of boys as 'b' and using the relationship between boys and girls to solve the equations.
