Devon is trying to find the unit price of a 6-pack of drinks on sale for $2.99. His sister says each drink would cost just over $2.00. Is she correct, and how do you know? If she is not correct, how would Devon's sister find the correct price?

If we know that 6 things cost 2.99 and we want to know unit price we just have to divide 2.99 by 6. So 2.99:6=0.49 − i t s t h eres u lt . N o ww ec an s a y t ha t hi ss i s t er i s n o t correc t , b ec a u se p r i ce i s d i ff ere n tt ha t 2 /unit.

Devon can find the unit price of a 6-pack of drinks by dividing the total price of $2.99 by 6, which yields approximately $0.50 per drink. Therefore, Devon's sister is incorrect in saying each drink costs just over $2.00. To find the correct price, she should perform the division herself.
