Two years ago, my age was 4 times my son's age. Eight years ago, my age was 10 times my son's age.

How old is my son now?

Please help! I need an equation to answer this.

x - your age y - your son's age
x − 2 = 4 ( y − 2 ) x − 8 = 10 ( y − 8 ) x − 2 = 4 y − 8 x − 8 = 10 y − 80 x = 4 y − 6 x = 10 y − 72 4 y − 6 = 10 y − 72 6 y = 66 y = 11 x = 4 ⋅ 11 − 6 x = 44 − 6 x = 38

Your son is currently 11 years old. Using the equations derived from the given age relationships, we solved for his age. Your current age is 38 years old.
